Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met the press on Friday on the sidelines of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing. Wang answered questions from home and abroad on China's foreign policy and foreign relations.
The COC will be an upgrade of the DOC. It will be more suited to our region’s needs, and more effective in regulating the conduct of the parties, and provide stronger safeguards for safety and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.
The countries in the region should grasp in our own hands the key to peace and stability in the South China Sea. The COC should be developed and honored by countries in the region. We must live up to this responsibility.
